Donor eggs and sperm are allowed under regulated conditions. Commercial surrogacy for foreign couples has been prohibited since 2015, and a reform bill on surrogacy was put out for public consultation in 2026 but has not yet been passed. Since the Marriage Equality Act came into force in January 2025, the details of access for same-sex couples are still being worked out.
